For the “Peace Like a River” project (2018, Art Prize, Grand Rapids) I only wanted to paint peaceful subjects. I was concerned about a Blue Jay, though… always thought they were troublemakers but this fella could not have been more courteous to his little neighbors … being very patient taking turns at the bird feeder. I was really inspired by the dark shadow reflection on the feeder’s glass and how it showed the seeds more clearly.
