Pre 2019 I was only inspired to work on square canvasses until I saw this unusual rectangular shape and was immediately drawn to it. My trip to Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh and the peaceful feeling I encountered while watching the koi were the impetus I needed to create this piece. I was excited to investigate, through my art, the abstract tendencies of the ceiling, sky and plant reflections and then marrying that with the more realistic images of the stones and koi.
