I had so much fun creating a moth painting for the Loyalhanna Watershed’s Art Auction (Rooney’s Find) I was inspired to create another. I found this Polyphemus Moth several years ago on my little log cabin one early morning. I remembered the beautiful sage green color and the translucent “eyes” on each large fore wing. While researching for this painting, I discovered most Polyphemus Moths are tan and reddish brown. All my reference photos did have that beautiful sage hue so I honored that in this piece. He has been “moved” from my cabin logs and placed back in an oak tree in search of a mate.
