Visited Sarasota Jungle Gardens in Sarasota, Florida earlier this summer and was inspired by all the creatures but mostly the incredible colors on the macaws. In doing some research I discovered these are called Scarlet Macaws and are native to the evergreen forests of Central and South America. I was inspired to insert the gallery wrapped canvas in a black floater frame, slice the frame’s side and inset pheasant feathers I painted red, and a found Blue Jay feather to protrude from the frame to give the illusion of reality intersecting with image. And, of course, the name refers to the red, yellow, blue “Primary” colors!
